Catherine leaves her mark on places and on people.
With a career that spans from architecture and teaching to art and energy healing, she has charted her course by following her intuition and committing to mastery.
Whether it be designing exhibitions for the NGV or as the principal architect on the most awarded building in Victorian architecture history.
Catherine taught architecture at the top university in Australia and has held seats at advisory tables that shape the way we live and experience cities.
Leaving a mark on the most important people in her life, her children, has led Catherine away from her Robin Boyd-designed bayside home to Bali, where living in harmony with nature is prioritised at their school in the jungle. Here, she continues to infuse beauty in the everyday through her art and energy healing practice, A Beautiful Temple.
Catherine’s style journey started as an architecture student when she had one dress whereby she would take the hem up to wear to an important presentation in class, and then let the same hem down for more formal occasions.
As with designers and artists, cash is prioritised for “dash” and as soon as Catherine was making a salary she was punching above her weight, buying pieces from emerging and notable designers.
After welcoming her first child into the world, Catherine’s body and identity underwent dramatic shifts, leading her to re-evaluate design through the lens of pieces that had continued to work for her through massive upheaval.
She honed in on what gives design a sense of continuum instead of the loss she heard so many women struggle with. She then worked on drawing from that knowledge and what she calls “future-pacing her wardrobe” before her second child was born.
